Chuck Norris Reads My Blog

When Chuck Norris handcrafts an item, he *really* handcrafts it. He grows, harvests, processes, weaves, and dyes his own cotton. He mines and refines his own ore to make metal ingots. And he crafts all of the tools to do it.

Chuck Norris has more than 10 categories in his Etsy shop.

Chuck Norris has more than 14 tags. But he doesn’t need to use *any* of them.

Chuck Norris doesn’t wait for a Treasury. The Treasury waits for Chuck Norris.

You don’t need to find Chuck Norris on the Geolocator. Chuck Norris will find you.

Chuck Norris handcrafts everything on Etsy. Even the commercial supplies.

Chuck Norris never needs to use Alchemy.

Every featured seller is actually Chuck Norris.

A Little Crabby

Here’s the toy crab I made out of red felt for the Crab Feed tomorrow. He will be given away with the grand prize in our drawing. I just kinda threw him together last-minute, but I _think_ he looks like a crab??? (What you can’t see in this photo is the Lava Jewelry logo on his behind.)

Coming soon… A Metal Series entry on BRASS. Please contain your excitement.

Today’s My Birthday!

And I created a treasury list of all of the things I’d love to get from Etsy for my birthday. Could someone forward this list to my mom? Seriously…

Treasuries

My work is currently featured in several treasuries, and I wanted to return the favor to the curators by featuring their beautiful collections and their shops in my blog.

Migraine B Gone!

It’s about 4 in the morning, and I’m just getting over a particularly bad migraine. Now that I’m feeling better, I don’t want to go to sleep. I’m feeling good, so I want to get some work done. Funny, huh?

I’m absolutely certain that I had something more interesting to write here, but it has escaped me for the time being. Ah well. I can always come back later and add more, right?

We’re now up to 55 participants in the Winter Beading Challenge, if I’m counting correctly. If I’m wrong, let’s blame the migraine for killing off brain cells, okay? There’s still plenty of room, so come buy your bead set today if you’d like to join in the fun!

Well, I’m feeling much better after my migraine night, and I’ve got a cozy kitty on my lap. I’m going to go make a cup of tea and decide if I should get some work done or get some sleep.

Let’s hope today will be Cyber Tuesday!

Day in Santa Cruz

Vince and I spent yesterday in Santa Cruz. We were planning to go hiking in the redwoods, but we ended up spending the whole day walking along the coast, then we got sushi at Mobo Sushi – the best darn California-style sushi in the world! (I get the vegetarian Crop Burning and Guido rolls – mmmm…)

Perhaps I’ll make it down to the redwoods next weekend. :)

Diablo and Such

View from Diablo looking east over the Central Valley toward the hazy Sierras.

I don’t generally blog about what I’ve been up to, but since I took photos this weekend, I thought I’d make an exception.

I went hiking on Mt. Diablo with my friend Chris on Saturday. Mt. Diablo sits between the Bay Area and the Central Valley, so it’s perfectly situated to be a vantage point to see much of Northern California. The city of San Francisco and the Golden Gate bridge can be seen to the northwest, and the Central Valley with the Sierras way off in the distance to the east.

Vince’s birthday was Sunday, so we went out for pancakes. Unfortunately, I’ve been feeling sick since Saturday, so I spent most of the rest of the day sleeping.

I still have a sore throat and an earache, so I expect that I’ll have to go see a doctor soon. Blech! I’m going to take things a little slowly today, and hopefully I’ll be feeling better by tomorrow.

Snickerdoodle Coffee and Bad Casting

A friend of mine got me hooked on cinnamon dolce lattes, which I promptly renamed “snickerdoodle coffee.” That’s my attempt to not sound like a latte person while still drinking lattes.

Today Lava Jewelry was featured in the a wonderful blog called The Creation Station, written by Etsy seller Powderpuff. She features various Etsy shops, and finds a creative way to introduce each one. You should definitely add her blog to your RSS reader.

Question of the Day: Was Kevin Sorbo a wise casting choice for Andromeda? In my opinion, Andromeda is one of the worst sci-fi series ever, but I watched the entire series any way just to see Lexa Doig. I can’t stand to watch Kevin Sorbo, though, and the opening sequence for each and every season of Andromeda makes me cringe. Each season gets worse than the last. I think that Andromeda had some good story elements, but watching Kevin Sorbo get it on with a different scantily clad woman every episode isn’t my idea of good watchin’.

Dark Belgian Chocolate

I’ve made available an Excel spreadsheet for download by Etsy sellers. It’s a simple no-frills spreadsheet for calculating your net profit after Etsy and PayPal fees, etc. You can download it for free on the right under “Downloads.” If you wish to make suggestions for improvements to future versions, please email me. If you would like to link to it from your web site, please contact me. Call me crazy, but I just love spreadsheets and databases.

Now for the topic of dark Belgian chocolate… I guess I’m having another chocolate craving. Dark Belgian chocolate is definitely the best in the world. The best chocolate available at the grocery store is Lindsor dark chocolate truffles. That’s Swiss, though, right? Oh well, it’s good.

Question of the Day: Is is possible to be self-confident without being self-centered and self-involved? I’ve known people with no confidence who are self-centered, but do people exist who are confident and not self-centered? That would be one sexy combination!
